Halloween A Day Late
1. Forget the masks. Just be yourself. People get enough marketing and advertising messages these days as it is. And it's becoming increasingly true that people like to support brands they know and trust, rather than ones that come off as less personable and that only want to make a sale. Do you have a BRAND? What is it your customers think of when they hear your name? That is your BRAND and you should nurture it and protect it. If you don't have a brand (oh, you have one but just don't know it yet), you should spend some time thinking about who you are in the eyes of your customer. That is your brand and like any company, you need to promote your brand. The more you can show off your authentic self (through great content and genuine responses), the more you'll make a true connection with people you're trying to reach. Then they'll be more likely to do business with you.
2. Keep giving out treats. When it comes to your on line marketing efforts, you need to give your customers and prospects the kind of candy — er, I mean, content — they want, the kind(s) that will get them to engage with you. It is called GIVING VALUE. Send them an article that pertains to their business, better still write an article yourself the might help them, or tell them why they should do business with YOU as opposed to your competitors. I can help you with this.
3. Don't be a ghost. Far too many businesses make the mistake of ignoring comments and questions posed by customers. The message is clear: Customers love to be heard and have their issues acted upon swiftly. Answer all your emails and, if you don't have an immediate answer, simply acknowledge their email and let them know when you will get back to them. Would you pickup a phone call from a customer and say nothing ? I hope not. The same courtesy should apply to emails and voice mails. Answer them promptly!

Exemplary Service
I had a discussion recently with one of our Vice Presidents who told me of one of his sales guys who went above and beyond. It seems he had a customer with multiple stop frozen food loads that was presenting a great challenge and we were failing too many times to make the appointed stops. The human inclination and hence that of many would be to throw in the towel and just admit we were not able to succeed. Well our hero got in his car and drove to the customers place of business with an appointment in hand and sat down with the management of the company and worked this out so that both Trinity and they emerged as winners. They told him that everyone had failed on these loads BUT he was the only one who apparently cared enough to try and make it work and took the time to put his money where his mouth was. Reminds me of a coaching email I sent to one of our Junior Account Managers.
I am constantly being asked how Trinity can actually be unique in an industry that is basically about rates and availability of equipment. There are hundreds of companies out there that do everything we do (at least on paper) additionally making the claim that they are “customer driven”, “customer oriented”, or "all about the customer”.
Should you chose Trinity Transport Inc as your Transportation Partner:
I will never let you forget how much we value you as a customer. You truly become our hero when you partner with us by allowing us to serve your transportation needs
How do I do this?
I will pledge to you the following:
I will genuinely appreciate you not just by my words but by my performance in caring for your freight
I will communicate with you effectively and flawlessly so that you always have my ear to discuss individual transactions, concerns you might have and regarding all the services we offer or add.
I will protect you by using carriers who have demonstrated by their performance that they are genuinely concerned about our customers. I will watch trends in the transportation industry and make sure you are aware of what might affect you. I will act as a trusted partner and resource to whom you can come with your transportation problems and who work together with you to solve them.
I believe sincerely that you will like doing business with us so email me or call me and let’s get started on the road to greater successes together.

I will also dry clean and press your cape regularly and make sure my cape is always a tad smaller than yours!!!

Ineptocracy (in-ept-o-cra-cy) - a system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.

I was reading an article today about truck driver retention and how difficult it is becoming. Even in a weak economy, there are thousands of truck driving jobs going unfilled. I am one of a disappearing group. I am a transportation professional who has actually driven a truck over the road both long haul and locally so I know how poorly truck drivers are treated by many shippers. Truck drivers can be rough around the edges but a lot of it is from sheer loneliness with no one to talk to for hours. Then they arrive to pick-up or deliver and are treated very disrespectfully when just a modicum of courtesy would work wonders. Who would want to work in that environment for very long? If you don't think driver retention is YOUR problem, think again. Half way to its destination your shipment is left at some truck stop simply because the driver got fed up with his life and walked away. The straw that broke the camel's back might have been one of your own people in your shipping department who treated the driver badly when he was loading your freight. Capacity problems and service problems are just as much your problem as they are the trucking industry. You have the capacity to do something to help by making sure the drivers that come your way are treated like you would want to be treated. A little change that could work wonders for us all!!!

We are the only country where we have homeless without shelter, children going to bed without eating, elderly going without needed medications, and mentally ill without treatment - yet we have a benefit for the people of Haiti on 12 TV stations, ships and planes lining up with food, water, tents, clothes, bedding, doctors and medical supplies. Imagine if we gave ourselves the same support that we give other countries. I feel bad for them, but I wonder who cares about America ..
I know I am not alone when I say that I am totally embarrassed and humiliated by the majority of our elected officials both in Congress and the White House. The so-called servants have become the masters and we their serfs. We are the laughing stock of the world right now and have deserted many of our long standing allies in favor of expediency and acceptance from a segment of world society that only wants to destroy our way of life. It appears to me that all they have to do is wait as we are dying a slow death by murder at the hands of assailants who we elected to preserve protect and defend us.
